The Balenciaga Hourglass bag line draws on one of the House’s most recognizable silhouettes, inspired by Cristóbal Balenciaga’s iconic Basque Waist and its sculptural, cinched proportions. Defined by a curved base and distinctive architectural lines, Hourglass bags are presented in a range of leather styles, sizes, colors and finishes, combining statement design with everyday functionality.

The Hourglass family now welcomes the Hourglass Avenue Bag, debuted with the Winter 26 ClairObscur Collection under the creative direction of Pierpaolo Piccioli. Inspired by an archetypal doctor’s bag, the Hourglass Avenue reinterprets the signature curvilinear silhouette through a firm yet relaxed construction in reworked box leather.

A top handle, hidden second handle and detachable crossbody strap offer versatile carrying options, while the folding top flap is secured with a minimalist lock closure engraved with Balenciaga 10 Avenue George V, referencing the historic address of Cristóbal Balenciaga’s Paris ateliers. Larger styles include additional interior and exterior storage, while the elongated East-West version introduces a chain strap. Alongside the existing Hourglass designs, the new Hourglass Avenue Bag expands the line with a contemporary interpretation of its iconic sculptural codes.
