Cultivated in the Philippine highlands, Abacá is self-sufficient, requiring no pesticides, fertilizer, or extra water. These banana plants also contribute to reforestation in areas logged or once eroded by monocultural cultivation, to enhance biodiversity and to support the improvement of the economic prosperity of local smallholder farmers.
